At this moment, I have run out of news and issues pertaining to adoption assistance in Ohio. Until I have something to write about, I will rely on your questions, inquiries and comments. If you send me something case specific, I will respond privately and then post the question or issue without any personal information. I will make the question a general one so neither you nor the agency can be identified.
I would also appreciate any news, experiences and ideas you care to share. I would like to know more about specific county agency policies and practices and how they affect you. For example, tell me about your experience with negotiating adoption assistance. What was it like? If I don’t hear from you, I can lose track of how adoption assistance is operating across the state. As you know, practice often diverges from policy and practical guidance relies on knowing how adoption assistance is actually being administered.
You can tell me about your experiences with mediation, for instance, without providing specific information, which would violate confidentiality provisions. I will preserve any confidentiality you wish. You can contact me by e-mail at tpohanlon@gmail.com or ohanlont58@gmail.com. You can also call me at 614-537-2840 or 614-299-0177.
I will also try to answer research questions about adoption assistance or related programs and services, including information from other states if it is available. Meanwhile, I will see if I can produce a useful guide on Adoption Subsidy in Ohio. A guide would contain much of the same information that appeared in the recent “New Series” posts that I published earlier this year, but would hopefully be more comprehensive.
Thank you for the kind words
My kids are grown, but I really appreciate your work. It helped me along the way and I’ve been able to point others in the right direction thanks to you.
