October 2022 Adoption Assistance Payment Rates
October’s figures from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services indicate.
17,714 Ohio children were eligible for Title IV-E Adoption Assistance.
17,142 Ohio children received Adoption Assistance payments.
572 Ohio children classified as “deferred” or $0 payment, indicating that they were potentially eligible for a negotiated adoption assistance payment in the future. NOTE: The only children who should be classified as $0 are those who exhibit no special needs other than “substantial risk.” Substantial risk generally refers to infants with backgrounds that point to future problems. Children who are considered special needs by virtue of racial/minority status, sibling membership or age are eligible for negotiated adoption assistance payments.

The Mean (Average) Adoption Assistance Payment was $563
1,677 children received Adoption Assistance Payments of $1,000 or more.
